The Great California ShakeOut earthquake preparedness drill will be held Thursday, Oct. 16 at 10:16 a.m. The drill offers students, staff and faculty the opportunity to safely practice responding to an actual earthquake event from wherever they may be.

UCLA’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will send a BruinALERT announcing the drill on Thursday at 10:16 a.m. Please be sure your contact information is up to date by going to the BruinALERT webpage. Additionally, ShakeOut drill videos are available in English and Spanish to practice at any time.

BruinALERT Emergency Notification System

UCLA uses BruinALERT to notify the UCLA community of a dangerous or significant emergency that threatens the health or safety of members of the campus community or disrupts normal operations of the UCLA campus. All UCLA students, staff and faculty are automatically enrolled in BruinALERT to receive notifications in the event of an emergency. Depending on the type of emergency, BruinALERT notifications may be delivered via email, SMS text message, or phone call or a combination of all three. Bruins Safe Online

Bruins Safe Online (BSO) is your primary source of verified information during campus emergencies. When you receive a BruinALERT, visit the BSO website for additional information. We recommend you bookmark the site and share it with family and friends who may want to be informed about emergency events at UCLA.

Bruins Safe App

The Bruins Safe App provides quick access to response information for potential emergency scenarios and critical campus safety features such as UCLA emergency contacts and Friend Walk. Download it from either Google Play or the Apple App Store. The app also gives easy access to info from the BSO website

Visit the OEM website for content on planning for and responding to emergency events. OEM’s goal is to help you always be prepared to respond safely to emergencies. Wherever you are, we strongly encourage you to participate by practicing “Drop! Cover! Hold On!” for one minute on Thursday.
