Public Advisory: Outdoor warning siren demonstration to take place at noon on Thursday, July 24

UCLA is operating normally and campus is currently open, on summer session.

Please be aware that UCLA is hosting a demonstration of a Mobile Outdoor Warning Siren on Thursday, July 24th at 12:00 PM.

The audible test will last for 30 seconds at stadium announcement-level volume. It will include a warning tone followed by spoken instructions (“This is a test of the UCLA emergency notification system; this is only a test; please disregard; this is only a test”).

In August, the UCLA Office of Campus and Community Safety plans to test the permanent BruinWalk Outdoor Warning Speakers (TBA) and additional guidance will be posted here on Bruins Safe Online at that time.

There is no current emergency on the UCLA Westwood campus; this is only a test. In the event an outdoor warning speaker or siren is actually needed in an emergency situation, the directions will be made clear on the announcement, as well as through several other mediums: in BruinALERT text messages and emails, on Bruins Safe Online, and through representatives on campus who will assist with whatever is required.

To learn more about the demonstration, follow the Office of Campus and Community Safety on the UCLA PD social media accounts: InstagramFacebook, and X
