Normal Operations

Labor unions to demonstrate on campus February 26 to 28; Temporary service adjustments; Reduced services at The Ashe Center

UCLA’s campus is open and operating on normal status. We are monitoring labor strikes planned on campus from Wednesday, February 26 to Friday, February 28.

Our campus community should be aware that these strikes will have some visible effects on campus over the three-day period. The University Professional and Technical Employees (UPTE) and the American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME) have both notified UCLA that they plan to strike.

You are likely to see demonstrations near Ronald Reagan Medical Center and groups marching around Bruin Plaza.

One group also plans smaller demonstrations near UCLA West Valley Medical Center and UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center.

Temporary service adjustments

UCLA Housing has notified the campus community about temporary adjustments over that period within the residential community:

· Dining Services: Dining locations will be consolidated and menus will be adjusted to accommodate staffing changes. Please visit the Dining Services website for the most up-to-date information on menus, hours and locations.

· Housekeeping Services: Bathroom cleaning schedules will be modified to reflect limited staff availability. We appreciate your patience as we work to maintain essential services.

· Mail Delivery: Some carriers may not deliver to UCLA during this time. We have arranged alternate methods to collect your packages and bring them to campus, but it may delay your expected delivery date during this period.

Reduced services at The Ashe Center
